May 2011 Newsletter

Hello! Thank you for indicating your interest in getting advanced notice of Kernersville programs for all ages. Here are the programs coming to Kernersville in the month of May.
Cinco de Mayo Events!
ADULTS>>>Thursday, May 5- The Friends of the Library Noon Book Club (12-1pm; Paddison Room)
We will wrap up the 2010-2011 season with an overview of recommended reads for the summer. This is always an exciting session led by Kay Cavello. If you haven’t come out before, feel free to drop in and meet the group and check out some new to you titles! 
KIDS>>>Thursday, May 5- One World, Many Stories: Mexico (4pm; Room 1- basement) For ages 11 and under. Join us as we celebrate Children’s Book Week by learning more about the culture and customs of Mexico! We’ll watch a film and create Spanish/English picture dictionaries. Registration is required. Adult Programs
Monday, May 2- Four Season Vegetable Gardening (7-8:30pm; Room 4- basement)
It is easier than you think to grow vegetables in all four seasons in the Piedmont. Find out tips to extend the season for the fall as well as spring vegetables. Please call Kathy Hepler at 336-703-2852 to register!
Monday, May 16- Stress Management (6-7pm; Room 7- basement)
This event is part of the Spring Wellness Series, which is co-sponsored by The Foundation for Wellness Professionals. There will be light refreshments served. However, seats are limited, so please call 336-996-7007 to register.
Youth Services Programming Note
There will be no story times during the month of May as we gear up for Summer Reading events. The kickoff will be at the central Library on June 11th. More details will be announced in a separate Summer Reader 2011 edition of this newsletter.

For those of you interested in getting reading recommendations (both print and audiobooks), sign up for a NextReads newsletter.
