On the Same Page 2011- Community Reads Program Celebrates 10 Years!
This year’s On the Same Page program (Sept. 10 – Oct. 16) features Cameron Kent’s The Road to Devotion. It is set in the 1860s in Winston, North Carolina. The book is a simple, family-friendly read with an engaging plot and fantastic pieces of history intertwined. The themes of compassion, friendship, and hope are brilliantly developed in this historical fiction novel.
This month’s remaining Kernersville event is a library book discussion on Thursday, October 6, from 12-1 pm with the Noon Book Club. Author and speaker Bonnie Doerr will lead the discussion.
The finale event will take place on Sunday, October 16, from 2-4 pm at the Community Arts Cafe. The CAC is located at 411 West 4th St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Musician Bob Carlin and the Voices of God’s Children will be performing songs from the 1860s. Light refreshments will also be served. Wednesday, October 5 @ 4:00 pm in Room 1- Get your Greek on! Celebrate the release of book two in Rick Riordan’s Heroes of Olympus series, The Son of Neptune! Come dressed as your favorite character from Percy Jackson’s world, and we’ll have games, crafts, snacks, and more, and you’ll even be “claimed” by your Olympic parent! The party is come-and-go from 4:00 to 5:30pm. Plus, we’re giving away a copy of The Son of Neptune! We’ll do the drawing at 5:00pm, and you must be present to win. You don’t want to miss this!
